The term Zoo is used for the first time between 1800 and 1900. This was also the time where animal collections were opened for the public. Old "zoos" are often refered to as menagerie (examples like Tower Menagerie in London and the 'het Loo' in the Netherlands).
Many webpages mention some of the Zoos that were opened in the time frame.

Note: If a zoo is moved from one location to another it is flagged below as "closed".
As a small intro there are a number of Zoos which are often mentioned as the oldest zoos. Note they are opened before 1800.
